Destination New South Wales' 2012 Regional Flagship Events calendar has been announced comprising 33 events across regional NSW such as the Riverboats Music Festival, Nosh on the Namoi, Narooma Oyster Festival, Snowy Mountains of Music Festival and Spirit of the Land Lockhart.
The 2012 line-up of wild and wonderful events are a major drawcard for visitors looking for unique and memorable experiences in regional NSW. The events are supported through the Regional Flagship Events funding program and are run by the local communities involving producers, artists, craftspeople, sportspeople and musicians.
There's something for everyone, so hit the road, join in the fun and plan to be at one of the following regional events across NSW in 2012.
The Riverboats Music Festival, 17 - 19 February, Echuca-Moama: The Riverboats Music Festival is the Murray River's premier contemporary music event. Staged at Aquatic Reserve in Echuca-Moama on the third weekend of February for the past 21 years, the Riverboats Music Festival attracts over 9,000 people for three days of world class entertainment across a range of musical genres. www.riverboatsmusic.com.au
Nosh on the Namoi, 30 - 31 March, Narrabri: Nosh on the Namoi is a celebration of local and regional produce and culture in the unique setting of Narrabri's Namoi River and Crossing Theatre. The event includes a market of over 40 local and regional food and wine producers, celebrity cooking demonstrations, a BBQ cooking competition, live jazz, wine and cheese master classes and children's activities.
Narooma Oyster Festival, 5 - 6 May, Narooma: The Narooma Oyster Festival is a food and cultural event which aims to increase awareness of the regions local produce. The event encompasses a traditional "welcome to country" including Indigenous music and dancing and hosts a food and wine fair featuring local food and arts, including the cooking demonstration marquee, music stages, wine and beer tasting competitions and oyster bar. www.naroomaoysterfestival.com
Snowy Mountains of Music Festival, 8 - 11 June, Perisher: This Festival coincides with the opening of the Winter Ski Season. With over 40 blues and roots bands and 150 acts from early to late, the festival is an opportunity for visitors to enjoy music from many different genres over four days in the unique atmosphere of NSW's beautiful snow country. Spirit of the Land Lockhart, 12 - 14 October, Lockhart: The Spirit of the Land Lockhart is a dynamic festival developed in response to the impact of the worst drought in the Shires 110 year history, and escalating concerns over rural economic hardship. It is unique amongst Australian festivals as it hosts Australia's only National Farm Art Sculpture Awards for sculpture created from recycled farm materials and natural elements. www.spiritofthelandlockhart.com.au/

New Years Eve Fireworks
Sydney Harbur lays claim to one of the world's best fireworks displays to welcome in the new year.
The Bridge and Opera House become the focal point of an imaginative and impressive display each year at midnight.
Get you vantage point sorted out early as up to a million people line the foreshores around the harbour for a night of partying.
