Cairns Aquarium is an exciting, all-weather visitor attraction located in the heart of Cairns.

Guests of all ages are guaranteed to have interaction with the spectacular beauty of over 15,000 marine and land animals from two unique World Heritage listed areas; the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics Rainforest.

You will follow the journey of a drop of rain as it descends from the Cairns mountain ranges into streams and rivers, through the rainforest, across the mangroves, into the shallow lagoons of the reef and finally into the depths of the Coral Sea.

Be guided through ten amazing North Queensland ecosystems from the world’s most ancient rainforest to the world’s largest coral reef to discover 70 different exhibits showcasing the rare and incredibly unique species of this region.

Endangered Freshwater Sawfish, Scalloped Hammerhead Sharks and Humphead Maori Wrasse dominate the massive freshwater and marine habitats, while Amethystine Pythons and Emerald Tree Monitors make a spectacle of themselves in their terrestrial displays.

Enjoy presentations at Australia’s only Deep Reef Tank and get a hands-on experience at the marine and terrestrial touch tanks.

We offer Cairns Aquarium by TWILIGHT TOURS Tuesday-Saturday with either a 3pm or 3:15pm arrival.

Booking the twilight tour is a good way of seeing the marine wildlife in a less crowded environment as the Aquarium officially closes at 3pm

can help save them.
− Meet the actual sea turtles undergoing rehabilitation and care prior to release.
100% of proceeds go towards the care of the turtles in treatment

− Single Day admission to the Cairns Aquarium and 30-minute guided tour of the Coral BioBank
− Behind-the-scenes look at the Living Coral BioBank, Australia’s only facility to house all 400 species of
hard corals from the Great Barrier Reef.
− 30-minute guided tour showcases the sensational beauty of corals and provides a great learning tool
so you can recognise key coral species during a snorkelling or scuba diving experience.
