Kurrajong Downs winery

The Tenterfield region is renowned for ideal grape growing conditions and so it is expected that some very respected wineries have evolved from this landscape.

Kurrajong Downs is situated 9 kms east of Tenterfield on the Bruxner Highway. It was established in 1997 and its first vintage was in 2000. Eight noble grape varieties were planted and are well established in the blue granite soils of the Tenterfield downs country.

The varieties are Chardonnay, Semillon, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Shiraz, Tempranillo, Traminer and Cabernet Sauvignon, on five hectares of vineyard.

A large rock retaining wall made from massive granite boulders provides a terraced lawn area, with a viewing deck on the front of the building overlooking the vineyard and the beautiful downs country of the valley below. The underground wine storage cellar is cut into the hillside to make the most of mother nature’s natural insulation.

The cellar door welcomes guests to try all our acclaimed wines and of course you can order online and we will have them delivered to your home so you need not worry about transporting such precious cargo.

Open from Thursday to Sunday 930 am to 4pm.
