Curtain Fig Motel

The Curtain Fig Motel is a heritage style motel, centrally located in the heart of the historic village of Yungaburra.

Your hosts, Mark and Jane Johnson, offer a warm welcome to an affordable, friendly, country style accommodation where nothing is too much trouble. The motel has six modern, well-appointed rooms with reverse cycle air conditioning. There is also a deluxe spa bungalow.

The motel is both child and pet friendly, licensed and offers home cooking provided in an undercover eating area or in room. Fresh bread is made daily and guests are usually welcomed with afternoon tea.

The Atherton Tablelands is a lush, fertile region of rainforest, wetland and savannah. Situated almost 700m above sea level, the area enjoys a temperate climate quite different to the tropical coast.

There are almost 2000 farms producing not only delicious tropical fruit such as mangoes, limes and bananas, but also blueberries, strawberries, corn and potatoes. There are two major coffee growing areas and a tea plantation.

Yungaburra is a very pretty town placed perfectly as a base to explore the Tablelands. Flower baskets, maintained by locals, line the main streets.

There are interesting local shops, craft centres, a monthly market and great places to stay and eat.

Within driving distance are waterfalls, crater lakes, the famous Curtain Fig Tree, and Lake Tinaroo. Platypuses can be viewed at a local viewing platform or by walking along the very attractive Petersen Creek, which has much of botanical interest and is maintained by a group of local volunteers.

Every room has a coffee maker, tea making facilities, en suite shower and toilet, television, DVD, fridge, kettle and toaster. There is a saltwater swimming pool on site. From its central location, you can walk to the famous historical Yungaburra Hotel, award winning restaurants, fascinating craft shops and platypus viewing.
