Our Salt Box Hideaway is part of the original Lettes Bay Village. Beautifully restored, The Hideaway showcases its originality on the outside, with the interior redesigned and furnished with a modern and comfortable feel. Fully self-contained with water views, fire pot and deck, The Hideaway shares a unique story of the rich heritage, wild mountains and western coast.

Queenstown’s famous lunar landscape was the inspiration for establishing what is now the Historical Village of Lettes Bay. Early mining practices at the Mt Lyell Copper Mine weighed heavily on the lives of workers and their families, and the need for a coastal retreat was great. In 1921 men gathered supplies and began to build on the edges of a sleepy bay, just outside of Strahan.
