Kestrel Nest Eco Hut
* 2023 NSW Tourism Award winner*
Kestrel Nest Eco Hut is an off-grid and off-line eco-retreat. It is located on our farm – Highfield Farm and Woodland. Our farm is 2/3rds a conservation area protecting critically endangered Box Gum Grassy Woodland and the creatures that depend on it.
Kestrel Nest Eco Hut sits right on the edge of our farmland and our conservation land. Guests can freely explore the conservation area via the many tracks throughout it.
The off-grid nature of the property means that guests can get a sense of their energy consumption and how easy it is to live without mains power.
The off-line nature of the property means that guests have the opportunity for undistracted time in nature.
Sometimes guests say it the best – here is what one guest said.
“A burbling creek, crackling fires, extraordinary stars. Deep fogs, breathtaking dawns and an outdoor bath!”
OFF-GRID AND OFF-LINE BUT WITH ALL THE LUXURIES

Kestrel Nest Eco Hut, is the perfect off-grid and off-line (no phone or internet) eco-retreat for couples and small families. Your eco-retreat doesn’t mean you go without.
Solar panels and batteries will guarantee energy for your stay, while panoramic double-glazed windows will allow glorious views. Linger in the outdoor bath.
We called our hut after the magnificent Kestrel – the ONLY bird we saw near EcoHut for two weeks following the ‘19-’20 Black Summer Fires which nearly consumed our hut while it was still being built.
A well-equipped kitchen will have you cooking up a storm with our farm-fresh produce and locally-sourced produce available for purchase. We also have special hampers and local wine.
You’ll stay warm and cosy with an internal wood fireplace and fire pit outside. The night sky will have you amazed – marvel at the heavenly show via our stargazing hammocks.

We believe we can farm and enhance the habitat for native birds, animals and plants. Farming can’t survive without biodiversity. It’s time to tip the balance back towards the environment. It’s the right thing to do.
